5 Ways to Connect with Your Higher Self

Sharing is caring!

One of the most important ways to live a meaningful life is to connect with your higher self. Connecting with your higher self increases your intuition and allows you to live your life with intention and to manifest your dreams in a mindful lifestyle full of joy and purpose. What is this “higher self”? It’s your connection to the eternal and infinite consciousness that observes your thoughts, emotions, and sensations. There are several ways to slow down, tune inward, and truly connect with your higher self. I’m giving you 5 ways to connect with your higher self.

Here are some examples of ways to connect with your higher self.

  1. Meditation

Meditation is one of the greatest tools for quieting your mind to help you connect with your higher self. We all constantly have thoughts bouncing around in our heads. With social media, technology, and the like, we’re used to being constantly stimulated. But because of this, it’s even more important to quiet your mind and meditate. Meditation gives us something to focus on that will help clear our minds.

The quieter you are, the easier it will be to tap into your intuition and your higher self. If meditation is challenging for you, try a walking meditation or a guided meditation. Although meditation can be a challenge, with practice it does get easier to be still and to quiet your mind. The more you meditate, the easier it will be to connect with your higher self.

  1. Mind-body exercise

Connecting to your higher self is all about turning inward, which is exactly what mind-body exercise is. Mind-body exercise is physical exercise that focuses on your awareness of your movement and your breath. Like yoga or pilates. It makes you focus inside yourself, and because of that it quiets your mind and can put you in a flow type state. Practicing mind-body exercise will help with connecting to your higher self because of this awareness.

  1. Journaling

Journaling–that is, writing down your innermost thoughts and feelings–creates a time during which you can focus with more clarity. Journaling puts you into a flow state that helps you to connect with your higher self.  Journaling makes you more mindful. When you’re mindful of your thoughts and feelings, you’re more aware of your instincts.

One of the most impactful times to journal is during the magic of morning time. During the morning your subconscious mind is most active. The longer you’re awake, the more you naturally move out of your subconscious mind into your conscious mind. If you can journal first thing in the morning, do it! This connection inward and to your subconscious mind will increase your flow state and build up your intuition. This is why a morning ritual is so impactful and journaling is definitely one of the best morning routines. Here’s a great journal that includes prompts to help get you started.

  1. Be in Nature

Being in nature is good for your soul. When you nourish your soul and spend time in nature, it brings you closer to abundance, the universe, Mother Earth, God…whatever you’d like to call it that resonates with you. Being in nature shows you that you’re a part of something much greater than yourself. This time in nature puts things in perspective and gets you out of your conscious mind. It allows you to tap into and connect with your higher self. It’s even been suggested that the way we move our eyes back and forth when in nature has similar effects to EDMR therapy!

Try to get outside every day, even in winter and even if it’s only for a few minutes. Of course, being in nature where it’s calm and peaceful is the ideal, but even some time on a busy sidewalk is better than nothing. Schedule time and make it a priority every once in a while to be in nature where it’s quiet–whether that’s a lunch in the park or scheduling travel at the beach or in the mountains. Spending time in nature will help you connect to your higher self.

  1. Surrender

Letting go and surrendering is a freeing way of trusting the universe and the process. Releasing attachment is a way to connect with your higher self. Releasing overthinking allows you to get insight. When you trust in the universe and are able to let go of the obstacles, attachments, and blocks in your life, you’re able to experience a more fulfilling life. Surrender is an act of faith. When you have faith and let go, you’re able to be guided intuitively, and your life will start to unfold in a positive way. When you’re able to relinquish control, you’re able to truly find freedom.

Surrendering also helps you relieve stress and regulate your nervous system. It gives you a sense of peace which allows you to be mindful, calm, and quiet. This is when you can tap into your higher self.  If you’re interested in learning more, you have to read Letting Go: The Pathway to Surrender by David Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D.

The more you practice these 5 ways to connect to your higher self, the better you’ll get.

You’ll be able to tune out the outer world and tune in to your subconscious mind and intuitive self, allowing you to tap inward and making it easier to connect with your higher self. You’ll be able to live a more aligned life that is in tune with your true values, giving you joy and fulfillment.
